A salute from the Far South to the Far North! It is really heartening to know that there are at least 40.000 people in the world to call off the unspeakable farce of the so-called 'world's most popular novel' (as one of most respected newspapers in Australia - The Sydney Morning Herald of 13 MAY 2006- called the Da Vinci Code, adding in the same breath that it 'became the most ingenious marketing campaign in history' (disingenously recognizing that it is nothing than aggressive manipulation of the public opinion). It is even more heartening that it is said that 'the novel has sold well in the Faroe islands' (the report seems to suggest a contradiction between that 'positive' reception and the 'negative' rejection of the movie). I think that it is in reality a simple demonstration of good common sense. Many people read the book and they were so nauseated that they don't need to watch the movie.

The movie isn't screened on the Faroes because the owner (read: the owner, not the law, neither the public) of the cinema think that the movie is portraying the story as fact, and not fiction.

The general opinion of the faroese puplic has nothing to do with this. I would bet, though, that most people here either don't care about the movie or want to see the movie, because they liked the book, or just because they're curious about what all the hype is about.

How can a movie be a threat to any religion anyways? If a religion is so fragile that it can't stand a petty movie... it's doomed to fail.

BRAVO for the COURAGEOUS FAROES! NOW THAT EVERYONE REALIZES THAT THIS ISNT JUST ABOUT FICTION, but about insulting another religion, that wonderful group of islands has stood up against the anti-God media and hollywood and simply said 'thanks but no-thanks.'

LOVE OF GOD is bigger than PROFIT$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

I for one will visit that lovely group of islands at least once before I die. I have never realized they are such staunch defenders of Christ's divinity & sanctity.

how simply amazing! really, this is even better than the banning in the Phillipines and even the delay in India.

You know what pisses me off more than anything else:

when anti-christian people think Chrisitans should turn the other cheek when their Christian beliefs are INSULTED. ALL CHRISITANS ARE DOING IS EXCERSIZING THEIR LEGAL RIGHTS IN PROTESTING AND SPEAKING OUT AGAINST THIS BIGOTED PROPOGANDA OF A MOVIE.

WHERE WERE ALL THE PEOPLE WHO OBJECT TO CHRISTIANS USING LEGAL METHODS TO SHUTDOWN THIS MOVIE, (oh BTW, EVEN SOME HINDUS, MUSLIMS, AND JEWS ARE OFFENDED BY THIS PIECE OF TRASH), WHERE WERE THEIR VOICES WHEN RADICAL MUSLIMS WHERE BURNING BUILDINGS AND ISSUING DEATHTREATS BECAUSE CARTOONS WERE BEING PRINTED???? WHERE WAS YOUR OFFENSE THEN????

CHRISTIANS HAVE EVERY LEGAL RIGHT TO PREVENT THIS BLASPHEMOUS MOVIE FROM BEING SHOWN. EVER LEGAL RIGHT
TO BE OFFENDED AND USE NONVIOLENT MEANS TO EXPRESS OUR OUTRAGE.

Propaganda is when you're lying to people to further your own cause. Is the movie doing so? No, absolutely not. That leaves us with one question: Why are YOU using propaganda? Or perhaps you didn't know what it meant, when you wrote it?

And Atheists don't have the legal right to see it? Please pull yourself together, and stop that self-centered behaviour. If someone wants to see it,then who are you to stop them? It's their money and their lifes.

Strange as it may seem, there just may be a connection with the Faroes and the trail of the Grail (Mary Magdalene).

The Faroe Islands, just north of Scotland on a world map, may have a clue of its own to add to the mystery.

There is an old wooden church in Gota (the 'o' has a slash through it) on the island of Esturoy depicting MM and Jesus post the resurection.

Who is the artist? Patron? Why here?

My daughter and family live there; that's how I got to see it on a visit. It blew me away, considering how stark and plain everything else looks in comparison to this vividly colorful mural (altarpiece).
